The Civil Court has cancelled its order to the Police to detain Alifushi MP Mohamed Nashiz and Medhu-henveiru MP Ali Azim in order to produce them in Court.
Police Spokesperson Sub-Inspector Hassan Haneef said that Civil Court's cancellation notification was received by the Police this evening.
According to the notification, the the order was cancelled because the Judge assigned to the case was out of the country, and because the Judge currently presiding over the case was occupied with other cases.
Civil Court ordered the Police earlier today, to detain Nashiz and Azim in order to produce them in Court tomorrow at 1:30pm.
Meanwhile, the Parliament is scheduled to vote tomorrow, on the amendment proposed to the rules of procedure to conduct no-confidence motions through secret ballots.
Sun Online understands that the MPs were summoned to Court in relation to a case filed by Bank of Maldives (BML), following the MPs' failure to comply with a Civil Court ruling issued on 7 February 2010, which has also been backed by High Court, to repay MVR117 million loans taken under the MPs' guarantee by Funaddoo Tuna Products. The ruling was issued on Ahmed Rasheed of M. Rafeeguge, Reethi Beach Pvt Ltd and Kanbaalifaru Investment.
