Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened a housing grant as part of the series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the national bank’s 40th anniversary in November.

Under the housing grant, the bank will build and fully furnish houses for three vulnerable families across the country.

The fund is open for NGOs and island councils to nominate families in need of safe housing anywhere in the country.

BML’s CEO and Managing Director Tim Sawyer said the bank aimed to make a difference in people’s lives through the initiative.

“The initiative announced today aims to help the most vulnerable families in our communities by providing a safe and healthy environment to live in. Through this project, our aim is to make a difference in people’s lives, their health and well-being, and offer stability and strength to those who need it most,” he said.

BML has asked for applications for the initiative to be emailed to [email protected] by March 31.

Further information regarding the housing grant is available on the bank's website.

BML has announced a number of initiatives to celebrate its 40-year anniversary. They include the BML scholarship fund, the upgrade of the national library, and the BML startup grant.
