Motorbike of police officer who stopped a drug dealer torched; 3 arrested

The motorbike of a police officer who tried to stop a drug dealer at N. Miladhoo, has been torched.

Police detailed that when the officer tried to stop the individual who had been trying to sell drugs, the officer was given a warning in a move of intimidation.

In events that followed, a motorbike belonging to the officer was torched by the individual in the wee hours of last night.

The motorbike has been burnt beyond use.

CCTV footage of the motorbike being torched has gone viral on social media.

The footage first shows a motorbike that is parked inside a house. Then, an individual whose face is covered comes inside the house, scans the surrounding for people before pouring petrol over the motorbike.

After the individual leaves, two other people are seen entering the house and lighting the motorcycle on fire.

As of present, Police have arrested three suspects in connection to the case. They identified the suspects as three Maldivian men; one who is 22-years-old, one who is 27-years-old and one who is 31-years-old.

Moreover, a Senior Investigation Officer has gone to Miladhoo, for the investigation of the case.

The arson is under further investigation.
