Prison officers working on the frontline are gearing up to start using body-worn cameras.

Whilst prison officers gear up to start using body-worn cameras – police officers began using body-worn cameras on Sunday, during a special inauguration ceremony held.

The agreement was signed by Correction’s Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu and Zeta Technologies’ Managing Director Mohamed Aiman Adam.

Corrections detailed that the body-worn cameras imported and distributed by Zeta Technologies are a product of the American company, Axon.

As per Corrections, as part of the agreement signed today which will be in effect for a period of three months, Zeta Technology will supply 15 body-worn cameras and three tasers. In addition to this, arrangements have been made to conduct training sessions on responsibly using tasers and the situations they made be resorted to.

Corrections said that the equipment will be used by prison officers working on the frontlines of prisons. They also stressed that modern equipment of this caliber would make prison officers more responsible and answerable to their actions.

“This an important step to ensure the safety of detainees in prison and prison officers,” Corrections had said.
