Attorney General Aishath Azima Shakoor has said that the Supreme Court, Prosecutor General's Office, Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs have been requested for advice on the bill on murder and policies related to murder.
She said that the next step would be to obtain public opinion on the issue, following which the bill will be submitted to Parliament.
“Due to the type of issue, we have been contacted by several people who said that they would like to comment on the issue. Once we collect their comments we will open the matter for public opinion. The bill will then be submitted to the Parliament,” she said.
At a recent press conference, Azima Shakoor said that the bill includes policies on implementation of death penalty, as well as policies on investigation and prosecution of murder cases.
