He also alleged that leaders of the government’s coalition were bribed for the election.

“Everything that has not been done for Jumhoory Party’s leader Qasim Ibrahim, has been done when the election was nearing. Have been compensated within the government in different manners. A lot of these actions create path for corruption,” he had said.

Jameel stressed that the absence of members at Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is in charge of investigating such cases, is extremely concerning.

Speaking further, he said that MDP government’s acts are ones that should not be witnessed in a modern society.

“When things stoop down to this level, the thing we call the attributes of the modern society is lost. In reality, it becomes a threat to democracy,” he had said.

Jameel said that the biggest deception in the history of Maldivian democracy is by MDP – adding that the party carries out acts that threaten democracy in the name of democracy.
