JOALI Maldives donates funds to three NGOs

JOALI Maldives, a luxury resort in R. Muravandhoo, has donated funds to three non-governmental organizations operating in Maldives. 

According to JOALI Maldives, the funds were raised from tourists who visited the resort during the festive period and the resort’s employees. 

The NGOs that received donations are: 

• Olive Ridley Project 

• Women in Tech Maldives 

• Zero Waste Maldives 

The Olive Ridley Project is an NGO dedicated to protecting sea turtles and their habitats through rescue and rehabilitation, scientific research, and education and outreach, while Women in Tech Maldives is dedicated to inspiring, empowering and celebrating women in science and technology, and Zero Waste Maldives is dedicated to promoting a zero-waste low impact lifestyle in the Maldives. 

The donations were presented by JOALI Maldives’ General Manager Enver Arslan in a ceremony held at the resort on Sunday. 

Arslan said they were passionate supporters of environmental conservation, community engagement and women empowerment, and were grateful of the contribution of the NGOs. 

He expressed hope the donations will support the NGOs continue in their mission to make our communities a great place to live, and to sustain our ecosystems for future generations to come.   

As part of the fundraising, visitors to the JOALI Maldives had worked with the in-house artist at the resort to paint ceramic fishes in their own styles, which were used to piece together three art pieces. 

JOALI Maldives runs its CSR initiatives under the slogan ‘Joy of Caring’. This is further broken down to ‘Joy of Preserving’ for environmental initiatives, ‘Joy of Supporting’ for social initiatives, ‘Joy of Empowering’ for women empowerment initiatives, and ‘Joy of Conserving’ for sustainable development projects.
