Service charge at three resorts exceed MVR 50,000 in January

Employees at three Maldivian resorts have been paid over MVR 50,000 as service charge for the month of January.

As per service charge statistics publicized by Resort Workers Maldives’ Facebook page, the resorts which paid their employees over MVR 50,000 as service charge for the month of January are Velaa Private Island Resort, Soneva Fushi and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.

Velaa Private Island Resort has always been one of the resorts distributing the highest service charge to its employees. In this regard, the highest service charge in January, was also distributed by Velaa Private Island Resort – being USD 3,660 per staff. This is approximately MVR 56,437.

The second highest service charge was distributed by Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi – being USD 3.320 per staff. This is approximately MVR 51,194.

The third highest service charge was distributed by Soneva Fushi – being USD 3,253 per staff. This is approximately MVR 50,161.

January of each year, is usually one of the busiest months for resorts as many tourists travel to the Maldives to spend the new year holidays.

Service charge at most resorts for the month of January on an average is above USD 1,000.
