The national airline, Maldivian, has successfully conducted a test flight to the airport developed in Lh. Madivaru.
The test flight, carrying top officials from Transport Ministry and state-owned enterprises, landed at the airport at approximately 10:00 am on Saturday.
The passengers of the flight were welcomed upon arrival at the Madivaru Airport by local business magnate, Champa Brothers’ chairman Mohamed Moosa (Uchu).
The domestic airport in Madivaru was developed by Kuredu Holdings Pvt. Ltd. The construction work was contracted to China’s Beijing Urban Construction Group.
The project agreement was signed on May 29, 2018.
The airport in Madivaru has a 1,200-meter runway, an apron, a fire station, and a modern passenger terminal.
It is the first airport in Lh. Atoll.
Maldivian is braced to begin scheduled flight operations to the airport soon.
