Maldives records over 10.7M bed nights this year, smashing 2019’s record

Tourism Ministry has announced Maldives has surpassed 10.7 million bed nights so far this year, surpassing the record the country set in 2019.

Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom forecasted that Maldives will be able to beats its 2019 record pertaining to bed nights this year by mid-December, on December 3.

Via tweet today, the Tourism Ministry announced that the goal has been reached – after surpassing 10.7 million bed nights on December 15. They also revealed the new target by this year’s end; 11 million bed nights.

Tourism Ministry all thanked and congratulated all travel and tourism stakeholders regarding the achievement.

The announcement by the Tourism Ministry comes a day after Maldives was crowned ‘World’s Leading Destination’ at World Travel Awards – the most prestigious honors program in global travel – for the second consecutive year.

Statistics publicized by the Tourism Ministry today shows that over 1.2 million tourist arrivals have been recorded so far this year; with 74,498 tourists arriving on December alone.

The highest number of tourist arrivals on a single day since the border reopening in July of last year was recorded on December 6 – being 6,293 arrivals.
