MTCC contracted for shore protection projects in Kendhoo, Dharavandhoo and Hithadhoo

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), on Thursday, has been contracted to carry out shore protection projects in three islands; B. Kendhoo, B. Dharavandhoo and Addu City’s Hithadhoo.

The contracts regarding the projects were signed during a special ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on Thursday. In this regard, the agreements were signed by CEO Adam Azim on behalf of the Company, whereas Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed signed on behalf of the Ministry.

These projects are valued approximately at MVR 74 million in total.

The project at Kendhoo is valued at MVR 39.99 million and must be completed with a period of one year. Scope of work under the project includes the construction of an 803-meter breakwater, an 80-meter revetment and a 90-meter groyne.

The project at Dharavandhoo is valued at MVR 22.14 million and must be completed within 180 days. Scope of work under the project includes a 490-meter breakwater and a 96-meter revetment.

The project at Hithadhoo is valued at MVR 11.64 million and must be completed within 165 days. Scope of work under the project includes leveling 6981 cubic meters of sand in the eroded area, construction of a 100-meter break water and the fixation of geotube structures at 570-meters.

MTCC is currently undertaking 63 projects across different parts of the Maldives. They include seven projects regarding the shore protection of seven islands.
