Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, on Wednesday, has urged to lower the interest rates of home construction loans.
Debating regarding the proposed state budget for next year at the Parliament today, MP Amir said that the concerns the public has regarding housing issues have always been talked about.
Stressing that no government has been able to address the issue properly despite this, he said that no path has been paved for islanders to be able to build houses in the plots of the land in islands.
“There is no way to build even if land plots are given again,” he added.
MP Amir said that positive changes needs to be made home construction loans in order to create additional housing opportunities for the people.
“I am asking you very earnestly, please find a way that the interest rates of home construction loans can be lowered if the desire is to forge a wider path for housing opportunities for the people,” he had said.
In addition to this, MP Amir also called onto lower the interest rate of boat building loans. He added that although different mechanisms already exist to achieve this, such mechanisms are not implemented.
