Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) states the preliminary results of its investigation shows the high water bills in some of the units of the Hiyaa Housing Project in Hulhumale’ resulted from water leakages.
MWSC states it is contacting the owners of the units which faced the issue and identifying and resolving the issue in collaboration with relevant institutions.
“The main reason for the high water bill was water leakages from the water wiring, valves and taps in the apartments,” said MWSC.
The state utility company has advised all customers to check for possible water leaks.
MWSC has asked customers to close valves and taps and check if the meters continue to turn to check for leaks, and to ensure that valves and taps in uninhabited units in order to prevent such an issue.
Customers who notice leaks have been advised to call MWSC’s hotline 105 and submit complaints.
