Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has made the decision to raise the pay of its employees starting October.

In a statement on Tuesday, MACL announced it will be raising the pay of its employees by 5-20 percent.

According to MACL, the increment will be applied as a percentage of the pay where the highest increment of 20 percent will be applied to the lowest range of pay, and the percentage of increment will decrease until 5 percent at the highest range of pay.

The pay revision does not apply to senior foreign executives.

MACL said it decided on a pay raise in recognition of the services and unwavering commitment of its employees during the worst days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The employees of MACL worked hard to serve the country and to continue our business during the peak days of the COVID-19 pandemic," said MACL in its statement.

MACL said that as the largest employer in the country, the company makes an effort to keep the employee pay and benefits on par with the market salaries.

“...and the current revising of salary structure is in line with this commitment,” said MACL.

MACL also offers health insurance, free transportation, free parking, a staff loan scheme, a staff children loan scheme, and staff development scheme as benefits to its employees.
