Teachers Registration Board established

Education Ministry has established the Teachers Registration Board required under law to conduct work related to the registration of teachers in Maldives. 

Members of Teachers Registration Board: 

• Registrar: Aishath Athiya Naseer, Minister of State for Education 

• Educational management/education policy field: Nahuza Shareef, Education Officer 

• Teaching field: Yusra Murad, Education Officer 

• Compilation of educational curriculum: Aminath Mohamed, Education Development Officer Coordinator 

• Child psychology or educational psychology field: Fauziyya Ali, Education Officer 

Education Act declares that the Education Ministry must establish a 5-member Teachers Registration Board within one month the Act takes effect. 

It also declares that practicing teachers must register with the Board and obtain their license within two years the Act takes effect. 

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali had stated that the authorities will begin implementing the Education Act with the academic new year, which began last August. 

The Act is designed to ascertain the right of children and adults to education and establish a mechanism to protect the rights of teachers.
