12 motorcycles which were parked at the recently inaugurated Billoorijehige parking zone was vandalized last night in an attempt to steal items stored in their under-seat storage.
A media official from Maldives Police Service had told Sun that the incident was reported to them earlier this morning.
“The matter of several motorcycles parked at Billoorijehige parking zone being vandalized was reported to the Police at 06:47 this morning,” the media official had said.
The media official noted that following their probe into the matter, they can confirm at this moment that 12 motorcycles were vandalized.
“We are investigating the matter further,” the media official had added.
Billoorijehige parking zone was opened for public use on May 21. The parking zone had been built as parking in Neeloafaru Hingun had been banned due to security reasons as the residence of the Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed is situated on the road – in order to ease the difficulties people may face due to the lack of parking space in the area.
