Housing Ministry has requested Male’ City Council to empty the parking zone located in front of the Indian High Commission in Male’ City.
A government official told Sun the Housing Ministry requested for the parking zone located near the Velana Building in Ameer Ahmed Magu to be emptied for security reasons.
Neeloafaru Hingun, the narrow road in Gaolhu district where the residence of Parliament Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed has also been a no-parking zone as a security measure following the IED attack on May 6.
The attack was carried out by strapping an IED on a motorcycle parked on the side of the road, which was detonated just as Nasheed left his residence and went to get in his car.
Other high-risk locations recently made no-parking zones includes the area in front of the residence of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
