Home Minister Imran tests positive for COVID-19

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has tested positive for COVID-19.

Information received by Sun confirms that the Minister’s positive test result was received yesterday.

While the source of his infection has not been identified yet, the Minister presently remains in quarantine.

Subsequent to the Minister testing positive, some staff at the Ministry has been asked to self-isolate.

Sun can also confirm that Minister Imran had traveled to M. Kolhufushi ten days ago, on Hajj Day.

A member of Kolhufushi Council has told Sun that the Minister had visited many places on the island during this trip – however, it is likely that there were COVID-19 cases on the island prior to his arrival as well.

Minister Imran is from Kolhufushi.
