Vaccination in Male’ area to be suspended on Eid holidays

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has announced that vaccination in Male’ area will be temporarily stopped during the upcoming Eid holidays.

At a press conference held this evening, Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq stated that authorities will temporarily stop administering all COVID-19 vaccines in the Male’ area starting from next Thursday. They have yet to confirm when the administration will resume again.

“We will be stopping the administration of all COVID-19 vaccines in the Male’ area for the Eid holidays. Administration will resume after the Eid holidays,” Dr. Nazla had said.

“We will inform ahead of time when it will resume. We will also resume issuing appointments then,” she added.

At present, only the second Covishield shot is being administered on an appointment basis.

During this press conference, Dr. Nazla also noted that over 50 percent of the eligible population in the Maldives have been fully vaccinated.
