Death toll from COVID-19 reaches 200 in Maldives

A man positive for COVID-19 and being treated at the COVID-19 facility in GDh. Thinadhoo has passed away. 

The Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Thinadhoo said that the individual was a 79-year-old local male. The individual passed away at 5:00 in the morning. 

This is the 200th COVID-19 death in the Maldives and the second death reported from Thinadhoo due to the virus. 

The last month of May marked the highest number of deaths recorded in the Maldives in a single month, with over 80 deaths. Case numbers also increased in the nation along with the death rates.
