COVID-19: 552 new infections, active cases fall to 18,462

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 552 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 68,502.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 271 cases from the greater Male’ region, 249 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 31 cases from operational resorts while one was confirmed from an island under development.

Meanwhile, 1,758 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 49,844.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 18,462 active cases.

There are 164 patients in hospitals.

5,043 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

The Maldives has recorded 187 COVID-19 deaths.
