Young man in ICU after kidnapped, beaten up in Kulhudhuffushi

A young man was kidnapped and beaten up by a group of masked assailants in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi on Saturday night, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson identified the victim to Sun as a 29-year-old Maldivian male.

Police received report of the man being forced into a car and assaulted by a group of masked individuals at approximately 08:48 pm on Saturday.

He is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

A spokesperson from Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital told Sun the victim was taken to the hospital at approximately 09:50 pm on Saturday.

The spokesperson said the victim sustained life-threatening injuries, and is being treated at the ICU.

The victim sustained a fracture on the right side of his skull, resulting in an intracranial hemorrhage. He also sustained minor abrasions in different areas of his body.

He is scheduled to be transferred to Male’ City via Hanimaadhoo at approximately 01:30 pm this Sunday.

The case is under investigation by the police.
