Vice President Faisal Naseem tests positive for COVID-19

Vice President of the Maldives Faisal Naseem has tested positive for COVID-19.

President's Office spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez confirmed that the Vice President tested positive for the virus.

Mabrouq added that the Vice President was in good health and was now isolating. 

Vice President Faisal Naseem has completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

The Vice President tested positive at a time when cases in the Maldives are on a massive surge.

The total number of positive cases confirmed in the country have now exceeded 58,000 with more than 24,000 active cases.
