Yellow alert for heavy rain over northern Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for islands in northern Maldives, warning of heavy rain and strong winds.

The yellow alert is in effect from 03:15 pm to 06:00 pm this Tuesday, for the region from HA. Atoll to Lh. Atoll.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the region will be affected by heavy rain and strong winds of 25-30 miles per hour with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be very rough with the possibility of swell waves.

Meanwhile, a white alert is also in effect from 03:15 pm to 06:00 pm this Tuesday, for the region from K. Atoll to M. Atoll.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the region will be affected by strong winds of 19-24 miles per hours with gusts of 45 miles per hour, and rough seas with the possibility of swell waves.

People living in the regions, and especially seafarers, have been advised to take precautions.
