Council begins disinfecting streets of Maldivian capital

Male’ City Council as begun disinfecting streets of the Maldivian capital.

Disinfection work was inaugurated by Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu from the busy market district in Male’ on Saturday morning.

The disinfection of streets comes amid an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases in the greater Male’ area.

Disinfection of streets of the capital was previously conducted back in March 2020, when Maldives identified its first cases.

Male’ City Council states that streets of suburban Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’ are also scheduled for disinfection.

Newly-elected Mayor Muizzu has been visiting residents of the populous capital since he took office last week to identify areas that require attention. He visited the market area on Friday and spoke with vendors from the Traveler’s Market and the Local Market.
