Maldives COVID-19 fatality numbers reach 85

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed that the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives has increased to 85.

HPA, today, stated that a local woman aged 75 passed away early in the morning. 

The woman was receiving treatment at the Emergency Room of the IGMH hospital. She passed away at 4:00 today, according to HPA.

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the Maldives has increased significantly as of recently. The country confirmed more than 1,000 cases (300 due to a backlog issue) last night alone. 

There are also concerns by some medical experts over another variant of the virus spreading in the Maldives. 

Fatalities are also increasing day by day as of recently. Last Thursday alone, a total of six deaths were reported in the Maldives.
