COVID-19: 146 new infections in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), has announced 146 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 23,237.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 59 cases from the greater Male’ region, 11 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 10 cases from operational resorts as well as 66 from industrial islands and islands used for other purposes.

Meanwhile, 90 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 20,529.

The Maldives now has 2,635 active cases.

There are 100 patients in hospitals.

2,948 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

  • March 21: 140 cases
  • March 20: 81 cases

66 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated that 273 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. All of them were from other atolls apart from the capital.

Total 227,696 people have now been inoculated under the program; 127,277 from the greater Male’ region, and 100,419 from other atolls.
