Fenfushi placed under monitoring mechanisms after positive virus case

The island of ADh. Fenfushi has been placed under monitoring mechanisms. 

Fenfushi Council Vice President Moosa Ali has confirmed to Sun that the island was placed under monitoring mechanisms after a positive case of COVID-19 was detected in the island.

Moosa said to Sun that the positive case was a female who went to the flu clinic to get tested on March 9, after becoming symptomatic. 

The individual was not in quarantine, and it is not know how she contracted the virus, according to Moosa who added that the woman had not traveled anywhere recently. 

Health Protection Agency (HPA), regarding the case said that the island was placed under monitoring mechanisms and that contact tracing was now underway. 

The Maldives has so far confirmed more than 21,000 cases of the virus, with the overwhelming majority coming from the capital Male' City.
