Police have completed the investigation of nine people involved in causing damage to Aa. Himandhoo Police Station on 8 February 2012, and sent the cases to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office.
Police said that the cases were sent on 3 October.
The suspects are Himandhoo Council President Ali Naseer, 28; Ahmed Muaz, 21; Ahmed Areef, 27; Aseeth Thaufeeg, 28; Hussain Adam, 31; Mohamed Nihan Abdul Matheen Ali, 25; Ali Falah, 22; Abdullah Adam, 39 and Hassan Siraj, 24.
Police Officers were threatened and forced to leave the Himandhoo Police Station on 8 February, and damage was caused to the building and furniture.
Himandhoo Council President Ali Naseer said that he was not even in Himandhoo on 8 February, as he was in Gdh. Atoll on a fishing trip at the time. He said that he was questioned by the Police about ten days ago, and that he had exercised his right to remain silent during the questioning.
