Air Astana launches operations to Maldives

Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan, has launched commercial operations of Maldives.

The airline will hold three weekly flights between Almaty and Male’; on Saturdays, Wednesdays, and Mondays.

Air Astana operated its first flight to Maldives this Saturday on an Airbus 321LR, but is scheduled to switch to a larger Boing 767 between December 16 and January 16 in order to cater to greater demand during the holiday season.

Kazakhstan is located in Central Asia and borders Russia, which has been the biggest source of tourist arrivals to Maldives since it reopened its borders.

Multiple international airlines are launching operations to Maldives, some of which will be holding special flights to carry tourists to the island destination during the holiday season.

As Air Astana begins direct flights to Maldives, British Airways, which discontinued flights to Maldives due to the recent lockdown in the United Kingdom, resumed operations to the island destination last week.

Meanwhile, Air Seychelles, the flag carrier of Seychelles, is also scheduled to launch operations to Maldives this Saturday.

Maldives is currently open to all tourists, provided they have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken maximum 96 hours before departure from their original destination.
