British Airways is set to commence operations to the Maldives after COVID-19 disrupted services that were commenced on October 17.
The operations between Male’ City and London were commenced on October 17 but was disrupted after the United Kingdom went into lockdown due to the spread of the virus.
British Airways conducted three flights to the Maldives per week before being interrupted. Direct flights operated from London to Male' City on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday while return flights were held on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The flights will recommence from December 5 onwards. Sri Lankan Airlines will also commence operations between Male’ City and London on December 12.
In October, Maldives has received 36,194 tourists. Since reopening its borders, the Maldives has received a total of 5,312 tourists from the UK. Maldives is also designated as a safe corridor destination by the UK.
