Maldives’ COVID-19 death toll rises to 42

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Saturday that a COVID-19 patient hospitalized in the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility has passed away.

HPA identified the deceased as a 57-year-old Maldivian male.

He has being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of Hulhumale’ Medical Facility, and passed away at 02:24 pm this Saturday.

“This is the 42th #COVID19 death in the Maldives,” announced HPA.

It marks the second COVID-19 fatality within a week.

Maldives has 12,112 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 27 new cases recorded on Friday. 11,244 patients have since recovered, and the country currently has 820 active cases.

52 of the patients are hospitalized.
