COVID-19: Maldives records 41st fatality

A COVID-19 patient has passed away. This is the 41st death related to the virus in the Maldives.

This is the second COVID-19 death within a week. Sources have confirmed to Sun that the deceased is a local woman who was receiving treatment for a kidney problem.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has also confirmed the news. HPA stated that the individual was a 45-year-old person who was receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility's ICU unit. The time of death is recorded as 14:38.

The Maldives has recorded a total of 12,009 COVID-19 cases. 

The Maldives identified its first COVID-19 case on March 7 and declared a state of public health emergency over the pandemic less than a week later on March 12.

The majority of the cases identified in the nation have come from the capital Male' City.
