Police have stated that the body of Sidhurathulla Ahmed (32) who was found dead at sea near Male' City had been sent for an autopsy examination to India.
Sidhurathulla was found dead at sea near Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with injuries on his body on October 23.
Sidhurathulla's body has now been sent to India for an autopsy, police have confirmed. The autopsy is to be conducted at the Medical College Hospital in Trivandrum, India.
Maldives Police Service had released a video of the last known sighting of the young man and had requested assistance from the public in the investigation into his death.
Police released a 32-second video clip taken from CCTV cameras on Tuesday afternoon, which shows Sidhurathulla walking along Bluekiyaa Magu and Thaajuddin Hingun, towards the Rasfannu beach area. Police had said that Sidhrathulla was last seen alive walking towards the Rasfannu beach area between 09:00 am and 10:00 am on Thursday – one day before he was found dead.
Police have stated that preliminary investigative results show Sidhurathulla had not died of natural causes, and that they had decided to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of the death. Sidhurathulla’s family believes he was murdered and said he was found with multiple injuries inflicted.
