STELCO wins two regional awards

State Electric Company (STELCO) headquarters in Male' City.

Maldives’ State Electric Company (STELCO) has been conferred two awards in the 11th Asia’s Best Employer Branding Awards 2020.

Asia’s Best Employers Branding Awards is held by World HRD Congress in collaboration with Employer Branding Institute.

The two awards won by STELCO include the Dream Companies to Work for Award, and the Emerging Leader of the Year Award to STELCO’s Managing Director Hassan Mughnee under the Individual Category.

STELCO credited winning the Dream Companies to Work for Award to the positive outcomes of the measures taken by the company for the development and wellbeing of their staff under recommendations and instructions of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.

STELCO named the introduction and implementation of innovative technology in the management of the company in line with government policies, improvement in the overall performance and governance of the company, its Greenlife Initiative, and the measures being implemented to ensure the health and safety of their staff amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as some of its most noteworthy measures.

STELCO noted that they are directly linked with the public, and said it considers the award as evidence of the efficiency of their corporate social responsibility policies.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of their staff, and introducing more insurance schemes, apprentice programs, scholarship programs, and training programs.

Meanwhile, STELCO attributed the Emerging Leader of the Year Award won by Mughnee to his dedication to ensuring the wellbeing of the staff, and to initiatives by the company improve customer’s trust and the public image of the company.

Some of the initiatives by STELCO to introduce innovative technology to boost customer convenience includes the introduction of smart metering, the establishment of a modern SCADA system, and interconnection programs to establish a national electric network.
