FSM fuel barge runs aground off Kondey

A loaded fuel barge owned by Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) has run aground on a reef off the coast of G. A. Kondey.

FSM’s Managing Director Mohamed Gasam confirms the incident.

He said the fuel barge is used to supply fuel to islands in G. A. Atoll and G. Dh. Atoll, and that the barge was on its way to Kondey when it ran aground.

Gasan said the incident has not resulted in any significant damages, and is not expected to result in a fuel spill.

FSM expects to be able to take the barge off the reef during high tide.
