Restrictions lifted from Kulhudhuffushi, Nolhivaram

Kulhudhuffushi City.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the restrictive measures implemented in H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi and H. Dh. Nolhivaram, in response to COVID-19 cases linked with a boat from Kulhudhuffushi.

The boat, Faalhu, travels between Kulhudhuffushi and Male’ – the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in Maldives.

The cases were identified on Friday, when the captain of the boat tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, two more of the boat’s crew, and one of their direct contacts have tested positive.

HPA implemented restrictive measures in Kulhudhuffushi, and Nolhivaram – where the boat had made a recent stop to – on Friday.

HPA completed contact tracing and lifted the restrictive measures implemented in the two islands this Monday.

At least 51 people have been placed under isolation for contact with the confirmed cases; 46 from Kulhuhuffushi and five from Nolhivaram.

However, Nolhivaram has yet to record any positive cases linked with the cluster.

Kulhudhuffushi Council has advised resident to continue to take protective measures despite the decision to lift the restrictive measures.
