Man injured after being hit by rudder of boat

A man has been injured after being hit with the rudder of a boat while attempting to untangle a rope from the rudder. 

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that the incident happened on a boat around 26 nautical miles away from G. Dh. Thinadhoo. The boat is a fishing vessel named "Roalhi". 

An individual on the boat had suffered lacerations to the thigh as he attempted to untangle a rope from the rudder of the boat. MNDF said that the individual injured was a 25-year old local male. 

He was taken to Thinadhoo with the assistance of the defense force. 

MNDF also said that the incident happened after the boat's captain mistakenly put the boat into gear as the man attempted to untangle the rope from the rudder.
