COVID-19: Maldives records 28th death, 73-yr old local

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that a COVID-19 patient passed away earlier today. 

HPA said that the individual was a 73-year old Maldivian male was receiving treatment at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility for COVID-19 when he passed away. The time of death is recorded as 05:11.

This is the 28th death in connection with the virus in the Maldives.

Currently, there are five individuals being treated on ventilators for the virus. On average, 100-150 cases of the virus are identified in the Maldives every day.

Authorities have recently stated that the hospital capacity for COVID-19 in Male' City area was at 62 percent of its capacity. Epidemiologists have also warned that the time may call for a second possible lockdown. 

The Maldives has so far confirmed 6,779 cases of the virus. 3,395 cases are aged between 21-40 according to statistics.
