Broadcasting Commission member Zeena Zahir's dismissal from the Commission has been forwarded to the Parliament's Committee on Independent Institutions.

The Parliament is to announce the issue regarding the dismissal of Zeena after which it can be forwarded to the Committee for deliberation. The Speaker of the Parliament announced the issue today before doing so.

Zeena’s dismissal was proposed by South Galolhu MP Mickail Ahmed Naseem and seven members of the committee voted to deliberate on the matter.

Only Zeena, Amjad Waheed, and Aminath Sahaarath remain on the Broadcom as members appointed in the former administration. Two others were dismissed from the Broadcom after votes of no confidence were conducted. Zeena’s dismissal was held up because she was on maternity leave at the time.

Zeena will be provided the opportunity to respond to the case against her. She was appointed to the Broadcom on April 5, 2016.
