Lawmaker in isolation after contact with COVID-19 case

Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ahmed Easa has been placed in isolation after contact with a staffer of the parliament who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

MP Easa is a primary contact of the female staffer of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Affairs. MP Easa chairs the Committee, and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed announced at the beginning of today’s session that MP Easa was indeed in isolation.

Nasheed also advised everyone to wear masks.

Disinfection work on the parliament premises was carried out yesterday following the positive case and HPA is also conducting contact tracing on the positive individual.

An employee of the parliament previously tested positive for COVID-19.
