Yellow alert for high swell waves in central, southern Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for islands across central and southern Maldives, warning of high swell waves.

The yellow alert is for islands from K. Atoll to Addu City, effective from 03:00 pm to 07:30 pm this Saturday.

Therefore, swell waves are expected to affect Male’ City, Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and islands in K. Atoll, A. A. Atoll, A. Dh. Atoll, V. Atoll, M. Atoll, F. Atoll, Dh. Atoll, Th. Atoll, L. Atoll, G. A. Atoll and G. Dh. Atoll.

Meanwhile, a separate white alert for swell waves has been issued for islands from Sh. Atoll to Lh. Atoll, effective from 02:30 pm to 06:00 pm.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts scattered showers with a few thunderstorms over the north and central atolls, and generally fine whether in the south, apart from a few showers.

Meanwhile, winds will vary between south/southwesterly at 5 – 15 miles per hour, and winds may gust to 35 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are forecasted to be slight becoming moderate during showers.

Maldives Meteorological Service also forecasts swell waves of the height of three to six feet to affect some of the islands during high tide times.
