People living residences under quarantine will no longer be permitted to go outdoors, under an amendment to the policy.

The policy affects individuals that return to islands after staying in Male' City. It is a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19.

The government now allows individuals to be quarantined at home instead of a government facility. This is only applicable to individuals that traveled to Male' City before or during the outbreak of COVID-19.

Under the latest amendment to the policy, people living in such residences would be prohibited from leaving the residence during quarantine and outsiders will also be prohibited from entering the residence. This includes individuals living in the residence other than the person under quarantine.

The quarantine order will be lifted after the individual in quarantine tests negative for COVID-19 after a period of 14 days. The new policy also affects individuals returning to the Maldives from abroad.
