Sexual assault of elderly reported in Addu, third such case in four days

A case of sexual assault in the southern city of Addu has been reported today, making it the third such case to be reported in just a week.

 A Police media official said that the case involved the attempted forceful abuse of a 64-year old elderly woman in the Meedhoo, Addu City. The matter was reported around 10:35 in the morning of today.

No one has so far been arrested in connection with the case and Police are investigating the matter.

Another case of sexual abuse reported today involved a Police officer stationed in the COVID-19 isolation facility of Hulhule’. The officer is accused of sexually harassing a female administrative staff of the facility. The case if also being investigated by Police.

A rape case was also reported in L. Gan two days ago. A man was arrested for raping a 20-year old woman on the island while being intoxicated. The alleged man was arrested in the case and the investigation is proceeding.
