Met Office issues yellow alert from H. A. Atoll to Lh. Atoll

Maldives Meteorological Service, on Thursday, issued yellow alert for islands from H. A. Atoll to Lh. Atoll, warning of torrential rain and thunderstorms in the area.

The yellow alert is effective from 9 am to 1 pm.

During this period, islands in the area expected to be affected by torrential rain and thunderstorms, and strong winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour with gusts of 55 miles per hour.

Seas will be rough.

Maldives Meteorological Service has also issued a separate white alert advisory for islands from K. Atoll to M. Atoll. T

The white alert is effective from 10 am to 3 pm, during which the area is expected to be affected by heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Maldives Meteorological Service has warned it expects wave surges during high tide times, and have advised caution.
