234 locals stranded in India to be repatriated tomorrow

Foreign Ministry has announced that a total of 234 Maldivians stranded in India will be transported to the Maldives tomorrow.

The locals were stuck in India due to the restrictions on travel as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be transported to the Maldives via two flights of Maldivian. They had been residing in 16 Indian cities. 

They include the cities of:

  • Punjab
  • Delhi
  • Vellore
  • Trivandrum
  • Chennai
  • Kochi
  • Bangalore
  • Pune
  • Goa
  • Jamnagar
  • Ezhimala
  • Wellington
  • Pachmarhi

They will be transported via Maldivian Airbus and Dash series planes. 

The airbus series plane will travel from Male’ to Delhi to Trivandrum before returning to Male’. It will land at 14:00.

The Dash series smaller plane will travel from Male’ to Trivandrum before returning and will land at 13:15.

Foreign Ministry also specified that the locals to travel via these flights were now making their way to Delhi and Trivandrum. 

Those returning include people who had traveled for medical purposes and long-term illnesses, those faced with flight cancellations.
