With 6 new cases, virus cases rise to 256

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced six new cases, increasing total COVID-19 cases to 256.

The new cases are five Maldivians and one Pakistani. The youngest is a Maldivian boy aged 13 years.

The cases were updated on the Health Ministry website’s Covid-19 Dashboard.

The positive cases include a 24-year old Pakistani woman who is collected with the BZM cluster of cases. The BZM cluster is one of the biggest clusters of the virus to be identified by the authorities.

In addition to the 13-year old boy, four male Maldivians aged between 30, 37, 39, and 40 also tested positive for the virus. The 30-year old and the 37-year old are connected with the RSC cluster of cases. It is not specified if the 49-year old and the 13-year old boy’s case originated from a specific cluster.

The cases confirmed today takes the total number of Maldivians infected to 104. A total of 115 Bangladeshi nationals have also been tested positive for the virus. 17 Indian nationals, as well as 11 Italian nationals have also tested positive for the virus in the Maldives.

A total of 256 cases have been confirmed in the Maldives so far. The number of active cases in the country is 239 with 17 people making full recoveries from the virus.
