Monitoring mechanisms imposed on six more islands

The popular local tourism island of K. Maafushi.

Six more islands have been placed under monitoring mechanisms by the authorities in the country after being linked to COVID-19 cases.

In a press conference underway tonight, National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that six islands were added to the list of locations under monitoring.

The newly announced islands are highlighted in bold in the list below. All the islands currently under monitoring mechanisms by the authorities are:

  • H. Dh. Kumundhoo
  • H. Dh. Hirimaradhoo
  • B. Kendhoo
  • Sh. Lhaimagu
  • Sh. Goidhoo
  • K. Maafushi
  • K. Thulusdhoo
  • H. A. Utheem
  • H. A. Dhidhdhoo
  • Sh. Narudhoo
  • Sh. Funadhoo
  • Sh. Milandhoo
  • Sh. Feevah
  • Sh. Maaungoodhoo
  • N. Holhudhoo
  • N. Maafaru
  • N. Miladhoo
  • N. Kendhikulhudhoo
  • N. Henbadhoo

Monitoring mechanisms on some locations were also lifted by the government. They include a boat named Dhuru Raasthaa 8, Noofaru Express, and the island of K. Guraidhoo.
