National Emergency Operations Center has announced that two more patients of COVID-19 in the Maldives have been admitted at the Dharumavantha Hospital's DH11 facility.

Speaking in a press conference underway right now, NEOC medical officer Dr. Ibrahim Afzal stated that the two individuals were a 48-year old Pakistani man and a Maldivian woman aged 68. Dr. Afzal stated that out of the two individuals the Pakistani man was now receiving treatment via an external oxygen source.

Along with the two patients, currently, there are three virus patients admitted at the facility which is designated to treat respiratory issues. An 80-year old Maldivian male who has a number of medical complications is also being treated at the facility. Dr. Afzal stated that the man's condition was stable.

“The Pakistani patient required oxygen, so he is being treated with an external oxygen supply. The other two patients under treatment are stable.” Said Dr. Afzal.

A total of 85 cases have been identified in the last two days, including 73 cases yesterday and 12 today.

Clusters of COVID-19 identified in the Maldives

Dr. Afzal stated in tonight's press conference that 12 cases identified yesterday belonged to two clusters named as RSC and BZM. The 12 cases identified today belonged to BZM, RSC, and MHF clusters.

AMZ cluster cases are the cases identified and connected with the Amaazu passenger boat. FLC is the name given to the cluster cases identified from Flu Clinics. UGM is the name for cluster cases from H.A Uligan. There are also other unspecified clusters.

Dr. Afzal went on to state that random testing was now being conducted on the streets of Male’ City and Hulhumale’ as well as corner shops and market areas.
