Medical supplies and other aid sent by the Bangladeshi government to assist the Maldives in its bid to contain Covid-19 will be brought to the capital tomorrow, the National Emergency Operations Center has confirmed.
The supplies were transported to the Maldives via a Bangladeshi air force plane that also brought back 71 Maldivian students from Nepal and Bangladesh.
They were accompanied by a team of medical professionals from Bangladesh who will be assisting the Maldives with the situation.
Speaking in a news conference tonight government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez gave details of the supplies sent by Bangladesh.
“The items on the boat would be unloaded to Male’ tomorrow. They include 20,000 PPE sets, 960 eye protection goggles, 5,000 pieces of hand sanitizers.” Said Mabrouq who also added that the aid included medication and food supplies as well.
The Maldives has so far confirmed 84 cases of Covid-19. The majority of these cases are from the capital of the country which is under a lockdown order.
